Musa Ćazim Ćatić was born in Odžak in 1878, where he went to elementary school and religious school. After his mother and father died, Ćatić moved to Tešanj. He went to study in Turkey, Istanbul, but he led a difficult and complicated life. At the beginning of World War One, he was recruited into the army and sent to Hungary. The war, being cruel and harsh as they all are, gave him tuberculosis and he was sent to Tešanj after a short treatment. He died there, in the hospital on the 6^th April 1915, while the war still lasted. He was buried in the cemetery Obješenica. He was a very important figure in cultural development in the period of Austro-Hungarian rule. All his poems were published after his death. And he is so well respected even now; most of the schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina have his name.
