Russian chapel, Vršič, Slovenia
The Russian POWs, who were building the road across the pass of Vršič, built the wooden chapel dedicated to the memory of their own suffering and of all their numerous deceased fellow-sufferers. This little Orthodox church is restored now and is known as the Russian chapel. Close to it there is a tomb topped with a pyramid inscribed in Russian: “To the Sons of Russia”.
