Monument of the Cavalry Heroes of the World War One in Oituz, Bacau County, Romania

The Monument of the Cavalry Heroes of the World War I is located on the Cosna Hill in Oituz and was erected in 1924 by the "Cult of Heroes" Society, with public support. It was the result of the work done by the sculptor Vasile Ionescu Varo.

The monument has the shape of a obelisk made of stone and placed on a cement and stone pedestal. At the base of the obelisk are an attacking cavalier, a horse and a heraldic shield with Romania's coat of arms made of bronze, a material from which the eagle in the upper part is also made.

At the inauguration, on the main facade the monument was placed in the upper part of a bronze medallion with the faces of King Ferdinand I and Queen Mary - embodied as a charity figure. Between this and the heraldic shield was a pink marble memorial plate, which was engraved with the following letters in gold:

"In memory of the heroes of Division 1 of the Cavalry, Regiments 1, 4, 5, 9, 10 of Rosiori, 3 of Calarasi and 1 Pedestrian Cavalry, Company 1 and the Company 2 of Cyclists, the Riding Artillery Division, Brigade II of Calarasi, Regiment 7 and 9 of Calarasi, fallen during the War of Reunification of the Nation of 1916-1918".
