Historical WWI Context
No fighting took place in the Czech lands during WWI, but soldiers from all regions were drafted in the Austro-Hungarian army to fight throughout Europe. The men drafted from domanin were conscripted into the k.u.k 91 Infantry Regiment.
The monument shows were the soldiers died, including two POW camps in Italy.

The village of Domanin is situated within the Unesco Trebon Biospere Reserve and Protected Landscape Area. It is in a region with a very high tourism for nature, culture, and history. Nearby Ceske Krumlov (40km) is a Unesco World Heritage Town with over a million visitors per year. The historic town of Ceske Budejovice is the main town of the region, and the eightst biggest town of the Czech Republic with over 190 000 inhabitants in the metropolitan area.
The historic town of Trebon (5 km) used to be the final seat of the Rozmberk family and a major visitors center as well.
