Heroes monument (1916-1918) in Panciu, Vrancea county, Romania

The Heroes Monument in Panciu was erected by the sculptor George Dimitriu in the memory of the battles after August 6, 1917, in the Muncelu hill area. On the socket of the statuary group are carved the names of 55 inhabitants of Panciu who fell on duty. On a concrete socket was placed the statue of an infantry soldier with a combat weapon, and the bronze bas-relief placed on the base depicts a scene that took place during the battles.

Right in the centre of Panciu Town, the historical monument dedicated to the heroes of Panciu is preserved, as the carving on the monument reads: "The Heroes of Panciu (1916-1918), for whose deeds of arms and defence of independence in the summer of 1917 the Homeland is grateful."
