Vilmos Huszár regiment memorial, Kecskemét, Hungary

The monument of huszár regiment is placed on the front side of the Kecskemét roman catholic church. The marble plaquet was made by tha sculptor Gábor Imre in 1918-ban. The inscription as: „A Cs. és Kir. 7. Vilmos Huszárezred hősi halottainak emlékére 1914-1918. Emeltették az élő bajtársak és Kecskemét thj. város közönsége.” On the battle field scene the huszár solder with a broken sward blow the trumpet, beside the flag with the inscription PRO PATRIA have his horse.

Historical WWI Context

From Kecskemét city in different military troups fighted over 16000 people on the Europena battle fields as in the  Austro- Hungarian 38. infantry regiment, in the Hungarian 129. infantry regiment, in the Austro- Hungarian 7. and 13. huszár regiment, in the 26. Jaeger troups and in other artilery and infantry troups. Over 5% from the former population as 3380 of citizens died in the WWI.
