The Monument to the Fallen Warriors in Aksakovo, Varna Region, Bulgaria
Bulgaria gives thousands of sacrifices to the First World War. Among them are the warriors of the town of Aksakovo near Varna, who gave their lives for the country. The dead and missing during the First World War are over 115,000 soldiers and officers. Besides them, there are thousands of missing and injured people. The town of Aksakovo is famous for its valiant men at that time who actively and devotedly sacrificed for the freedom of their homeland.
On the initiative and under the leadership of Ms. Julia Ivanova, a teacher in History at local school in Aksakovo, at the beginning of the academic year 2014-2015 the students of the 9th class took care for the monument, which was partially neglected. From that moment, the monument is regularly cleaned and festivals are organized in honor of the dead Aksakovtsi during the First World War.

Stone forest “Pobiti Kamani” - 18 km west of the town of Aksakovo is located the stone forest "Pobiti Kamani". Around 50,000,000 years ago, as a result of erosion processes, these picturesque stone sculptures, located on an area of about 240 hectares, are an internationally important site proposed to be listed on UNESCO's World Wide List of Unique Geological Formations. The "Batova" area is an impressive forest massif, located mainly on the territory of Aksakovo Municipality. The area has several huts for recreation. There are annual competitions for racing that gather people from across the region.
