Historical WWI Context
Location of this station is a part of the “Sarajevo assassination” heritage. It was a narrow gauge railway station constructed in 1882 when railway line from Brod na Savi reached Sarajevo. It was the station where archduke Franz Ferdinand and countess Sophie Chotek were greeted upon their arrival to Sarajevo from Ilidža on June 28th 1914, as well as where their Bodies were departed from after the assassination, on June 29th 1914.
